Georgia City was laid out in January 1868 by John Guinn and was named after his native state.
George Broome purchased a large tract of land and established a trading post. The population
at that time was about 50 people and it was a wheat growing district. At one time if was a
flourishing town having many businesses, a school, a post office and cemetery. The cemetery
is all that remains of Georgia City. Georgia City is located north of Carl Junction.
