Livingston Cemetery, Grundy County, MO


This cemetery is in Jefferson Township; S32-T60N-R25W. It may be possible that this is one of many small plots in the county where records will disappear. Located back in a pasture 1/2 mile from the road. a fenced plot approximately 20ยด square. In the center of the plot stands a giant double cedar tree 30" in diameter (100-120 years old). The cemetery was recorded in 1963 by Mrs. B. F. Hoover.

LIVINGSTON Dr. James 23 Jan 1808, Franklin County, Ohio 05 Mar 1851, Grundy County, Missouri A large slab stone, good marble, deep inscription, a weeping willow at the top. It is believed he died of pneumonia as he followed a country practice of medical care for the community. Footstone: J.L.
LIVINGSTON Russell B.   11 Jun 1848 31y 1d. This stone was originally set at the base of the cedar tree, which continued to grow, embedding the stone until it was difficult to read.
Slaves are also buried in this plot in unmarked graves
