The Old Men of Clay County These are the citizens of Clay County whose biographies appeared in the Liberty Tribune in the Summer and Fall of 1870. These men were thought to have been sympathetic toward the Confederacy during the Civil War by the Federal Government and their right to register or vote was denied. The purpose of this series was to show the quality of character of these old citizens of Clay County. NOTE: The gentleman who is in possession of these biographies has graciously agreed to help us add these historical writings to the Clay County MOGenWeb Project page. Please check back in the coming weeks for the first of the biographical sketches. Braley, John McKee, David Harrel, John E. Ross, William Muncy, Wm. S. Records, Laban S.
