During the civil war, William served in Capt. Small's Co. , I st NE Cavalry Regt, of the Missouri Home Guards; and later he served in Co. C, of the 21 st Missouri Infantry.
An August 5, 1875 pension record lists William as an invalid.
The 1880 census lists William as a jeweler.
In 1882, he filed for a pension. The records show that in 1883, he was receiving $12.00 a month.
1920, May 6, pension record lists his wife Mary as a widow.
