Research Note Making sorghum the old-fashioned way is shown on this post card.

The juice from the cane is squeezed from the stalk by the press and runs down a hose to the vats under the shed where it is boiled to make sorghum molasses. Some of the Barry County old-timers called it molasses not sorghum.
