MRS. JEWELL YOUNG RITES YESTERDAY - Local Resident Died Saturday At St. Vincent's

Funeral services for Mrs. Jewell Fly Young, 73, of Monett, who died Saturday morning in St. Vincent's Hospital following a lengthy illness, were held at 10 a.m. yesterday in the Mercer Chapel with Rev. M. Leon Pigg, pastor of the First Christian church, officiating.

Music for the services included a special recording of "Peace In The Valley".

Pallbearers were Dick Fly, Jack Allen Fly, Bob Lane, Vernon Bradford, Ottie Davis and John Schultz.

Burial was in the Purdy cemetery under the direction of the Mercer Funeral Home with Rev. Brian Packer, pastor of the St. Stephen's Episcopal church, officiating at the graveside rites.

Out of town relatives and friends attending the services included Mrs. Maude Wagner of South Gate, California and Margery Blankenship of Springfield.

MRS. JEWELL YOUNG DIES HERE TODAY

Mrs. Jewell Fly Young, 73, of 404 Bond Street, Monett, died at 3:30 a.m. today in St. Vincent's Hospital following a long illness.

Born November 7, 1892, at Purdy, Mrs. Young had resided in California for many years where she was a comptometer operator for the Bell Telephone Company. She retired in 1954 and returned to Monett in June of 1965.

She was a member of the Christian church of Bell, California.

Survivors include a brother, Jack Fly, of Monett; and two sisters, Mrs. Ed Lane of Monett and Mrs. Maude Wagner of Southgate, California.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Mercer Chapel. The Rev. Leon Pigg will officiate and burial will be in the Purdy cemetery.
