Text | Mrs. Sarah J. Woolsey, for many years a resident of Monett, died at her home on West Main street at 6 o’clock Thursday morning, December 28, after a long illness with rheumatism and complications. Funeral services will be held at the Methodist church at 2:30 o’clock Friday afternoon, December 29. Interment will be made in the I. O. O. F. cemetery. Sarah Jane Hand was born May 1, 1852 at Macon, Ga. She was married to George G. Woolsey May 20, 1873, at Springfield, Mo. They were the parents of eight children, all except one being born at Pierce City, Mo., where the family lived for many years. The youngest son, Claud Woolsey, was born at Bentonville, Ark. Three children died in infancy. The living are Mrs. J. L. Jeffries, Mrs. Joe Breece and A.L. Woolsey, of Monett; Chas. Woolsey, of Bentonville, Ark., and Claud Woolsey of Fayetteville, Ark. She leaves one sister, Mrs. Mary Harvell of Peirce City, and seven grandchildren, Cladys Jeffries, Fern Breece, Stanley Wayne and Mildred Woolsey, Mary Elizabeth and Lawrence Woolsey and the infant daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Claud Woolsey, born a few hours before the grandmother died. Mrs. Woolsey’s husband died June 21, 1906. The deceased was faithful member of the Methodist church. She was a good Christian woman and her influence was always on the side of the right. |
