Text | Goldia J. Woolsey, 88, of Monett died at 1:25 a.m. today, September 27 at Cox-Monett Hospital following a long illness Mrs. Woolsey was born April 27, 1906 in Zanesville, Ohio, the daughter of John W. and Florence (Cass) Terpening. She moved to Monett in 1940 from Arkansas. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Monett. She taught Sunday school for 38 years and was past president of the Women’s Missionary Union. She was a charter member of the Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church in Springfield in 1957. She was a member of the Monett Garden Club and the United Trainmen Union Auxilliary. She graduated in 1957 from St. John’s School of Practical Nursing in Springfield and retired in 1967 as a nurse at St. John’s. She married Charles Woolsey on October 11, 1935 in Prairie Grove, Arkansas, and he preceded her in death August 9, 1955. She married Alvis L. Woolsey on October 26, 1967 in Monett, and he preceded her in death March 5, 1976. Survivors include one daughter …, two grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, October 1, at First Baptist Church in Monett with the Rev. Ron Moseley and the Rev. Grady Cockerham officiating. Burial will be in Monett IOOF Cemetery under the direction of Buchanan Funeral Home of Monett. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, September 30, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church. |
