Obit For Phillip Elias Wilson

Text Phillip Elias Wilson, 83, of Shell Knob, passed away at his home Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012.

He was born April 5, 1929, in Lone Elm, near Jenkins, the second child of Everett and Dollie (James) Wilson. On June 28, 1948, in Barry County, he was united in marriage to Opal Caroline Cooper, who survives.

Additional survivors include: his daughter, Deborah Louise Miller and her husband, Warren, of The Villages, Fla.; two brothers, Johnnie Wilson, of Shell Knob, and George Wilson, of Jenkins; one sister, Lola Doty, of Taft, Calif.; one grandson; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Mildred Eden and Dollie Owings, and one brother, Harold Wilson.

He went to school at Clio through the eighth grade. In 1947, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and ended up as a paratrooper in the 82nd airborne division at Fort Bragg, N.C. He was employed with Sheffield Steel Mill, later known as Armco Steel in Kansas City for 30 years. He retired and moved to Shell Knob in 1981.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, Shell Knob, where he was baptized April 13, 1986, by Jerry Francisco.

Funeral services were held Monday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Rev. David Eaton conducted the services. Burial with military honors was at Clio Cemetery, Jenkins.
