#1. Hazel Lea (Scott) Whittington, 73, of Purdy, died at 4:40 a.m. yesterday, October 1, at her home following a long illness. Mrs. Whittington was born January 22, 1927, in Peoria, Oklahoma, the daughter of Joseph Theodore and Nancy (McDunner) Scott.

She was a homemaker. She was a member Hobbs-Anderson Post 91 Monett American Legion Auxiliary, Tom Wolfe Memorial Post 4207 Monett Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, and the Tops Club in Cassville. She attended the Assembly of God in Monett.

She married Kenneth Whittington, Sr., on May 24, 1942, in Monett, and he preceded her in death January 8, 1995.

Survivors include two sons, two daughters, one brother and one sister.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 4, at Bennett-Wormington Chapel in Monett.

Burial will be in Maddy Cemetery in Purdy under the direction of Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home of Monett. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. tomorrow, October 3, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to hospice.



#2. Hazel Whittington: Services for Hazel Lea Whittington, age 73, of Purdy, who died October 1, were held at 10 a.m. yesterday, October 4, at Bennett-Wormington Chapel in Monett with Rev. F. C. Lasater officiating. Music was provided by the congregation which sang Amazing Grace and Old Rugged Cross, and soloist Jr. Kennedy who sang One Day At A Time. Pianist was Lois Kennedy. Casketbearers were Kenneth Whittington Jr., Kenneth Whittington III, Scott Whittington, Stanley Dotson, Tony Bruenn, and Chris Campbell.
