Text | Frances Diane Whitney, 60, of Cassville, died April 28 at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin. Miss Whitney was born August 19, 1943, in Butler, the daughter of Wallace Roy and Lucycle Frances (McGuire) Whitney. She was a poster child for the March of Dimes in the 1950s, She worked for the Girl Scouts in Colorado and Oklahoma, and the Black Angus Association, before going to work for the Diocese of Springfield-Cape Girardeau as director of religious education. She was a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church in Cassville, and served as church secretary at St. Edwards and Holy Family Catholic Church in Shell Knob. Survivors include two brothers, of Cassville and of Coral Springs, Florida; her step-mother, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, Alan Whitney. Services were 10 a.m. today, May 3, at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Cassville with Father David Miller officiating. Graveside services were 3 p.m. today in Oak Hill Cemetery in Butler under the direction of Williamson Funeral Home of Cassville. Memorials may be made to the March of Dimes or St. Edwards Catholic Church or Holy Family Catholic Church. |
