Text | Geo. A. White was born at Morris, Franklin County, Ind. Aug. 11, 1880, was educated and graduated at the State University of Terre Haute, Ind. He came to Wheaton Mo. In Dec. 1906 and established the Wheaton Journal the following spring. He served as principal of the Wheaton High School during the term 1910-11. On Jan. 12, 1913 he was united in marriage to Miss Estella Davis and the following May they moved to Waldron Kansas where he edited The State Line Democrat. For the past two years he has been teaching school in Oklahoma. During the month of February he contracted a severe case of influenza and since that time his health has been gradually failing. He died at the home of J. H. Davis, May 11, age 38 years 9 months. While Geo. Was not a member of any church, he took much interest in Sunday school and his old class will long remember some of his words and teachings. To his wife and children he was always a kind and loving husband and father. Although he suffered much in his last illness no word of complaint was ever uttered and his only sorrow seemed to be in leaving his wife and children. Besides these he leaves father, mother, and one sister and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his death. Funeral services were conducted by Bro. Reasor and his remains were laid to rest in the Muncie Chapel Cemetery May 13, there to await the Great Call. |
