Obit For Walter Simon Weston

Text Walter Weston, son of the late Simon and Polly Weston, was born March 8, 1881 at Seligman, Mo., and departed this life February 28, 1937, at 4 p.m. at his home near Exeter, age 55 years, 11 months and 20 days.

He was united in marriage to Laura DeWitt Sept. 6, 1903. To this union seven children were born.

He was converted in a cottage prayer meeting at his home near Antioch Church, about 19 years ago and united with the Antioch Baptist Church. He live a consistent Christian life, leaving the latter days of his life as a lifting testimony of his home in the mansion Jesus had prepared for him. He bore his sufferings to the end, in hope that his life might shine us a guiding star to his loved ones and friends left behind, that he might meet them in the glory world beyond.

He is survived by his wife, four sons, Rev. Willie Weston of Monett, Tommy of Monett, Leon of Pierce City, Ernest of Cassville; three daughters, Marie Box of Washburn, Opal Courdin of Monett and Lois at home; thirteen grandchildren; six brothers; one sister and a number of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church in Exeter Monday afternoon, Mar. 1 by Rev. A. T. Allred of Monett, assisted by Rev. Swofford and Chas. Vanzandt. The floral offerings were beautiful. Opal Dell Silva Weeks, Cora Dell and Fredalene Stephens were flower girls. The Exeter singers furnished music and Rev. Swafford sang a solo. Burial was in the Maplewood Cemetery at Exeter, under the direction of the Koon Undertaking Company.
