Text | Betty Jean Weston, 84, of Shell Knob, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2010, at her home. She was born March 26, 1926, in Springfield, the daughter of Thomas and Lela (Shamley) Wakefield. She grew up in Monett and graduated from Monett High School where she and Lonnie met. She was united in marriage on May 12, 1945, to William Lonnie Weston at Monett. In 1972, she and Lonnie moved from El Paso, Texas, to Shell Knob to retire. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Shell Knob. Lonnie preceded her in death on May 19, 2008. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Wilma Squibb. Survivors include: two daughters, of Phoenix, Ariz., and her husband, of Clinton, Miss.; two grand-children; and two great-grandchildren. Betty's passions included homemaking and cooking. She was featured in both Pillsbury and Betty Crocker 'Best of The Bake-Off'. Her recipes won blue ribbons at many state fairs. Funeral services were held Monday in First Baptist Church, Shell Knob, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob. Pastor Bob Gaddis conducted the services. Burial was at I00F Cemetery, Monett. |
