Obit: AGED EXETER CITIZEN DIES ~ Funeral Held Sunday. One of Exeter's Oldest Residents. ~ Mrs. Louisa Virginia Inman West, wife of Joe West, passed away at their home in Exeter Friday night, Aug. 18th. Funeral services were held at the Christian church in Exeter, Sunday afternoon, Aug. 21st, conducted Rev. J. S. McQueen of Wheaton, assisted by Rev. Chas. Vanzandt of Exeter. Burial was in the Maplewood cemetery, with the Barr-Blankenship funeral service in charge. Mrs. West was 80 years old. Surviving of her immediate family are her husband, Joe West, one of Exeter's oldest citizens, one daughter, Mrs. Pharis Stephens of Exeter, and two sons, Marvin and Harry West, both of Oklahoma. Mrs. West was a fine Christian woman. In her earlier years she had been very active in the Christian church, and in community work. Her friends were numbered by her acquaintances. Mrs. West was born near Waynesville in 1859. She was a daughter of the late Marve S. and Betty Inman. They came to Barry County and located near Washburn in 1866, and located at Exeter in 1886, and Exeter has since been her home. She was married to Joe T. West at Washburn, in 1877. To them five children were born, two passing away in infancy. She professed faith in Christ at the age of thirty and was a faithful Christian worker so long as her health permitted. In was largely through her efforts that the Christian church building in Exeter was built. The pall bearers were J. C. Ellston, T. C. Goodwin, Ralph Roseberry, Calvin Fountain, A. D. Taylor, and Oliver Ware. NOTE: The bottom of the clipping is torn off, but the beginning of the next paragraph reads: "Flower girls were: Mrs. Jack" ... with the remainder missing.
