Text | George Washington Weatherly was born Nov. 4, 1857. Died Sept. 15,1929 age 71 years 10 months and 3 days. For many years he resided at his splendid country home near the McMurtry springs south of Cassville. Later, he with family, moved to Exeter. About three years ago Mr. Weatherly became afflicted and was taken to the State Hospital at Nevada for treatment, where he remained until his death. On July 18, 1880 he and Malissa Packwood were married. To this union two children were born. Mrs. Grover Journey and Ira, who died Dec. 27,1919. Mr. Weatherly was a splendid citizen and was highly respected by his acquaintances. He is survived by his wife and one daughter, Mrs. Cora Journey and granddaughter, one brother, John Weatherly of Exeter, one sister Mrs. Sarah Packwood of Exeter. Also many other relatives and friends. Mr. Weatherly was a member of the Christian church at Exeter. The remains were conveyed from Nevada by the Barr and Blankenship Funeral Service on Thursday evening to his home south of Cassville. Funeral services were held at the Christian church in Exeter, on Friday afternoon Sept. 13 by Rev. Chas Vanzandt. Burial in the Maplewood cemetery at Exeter.
