Text | Mr. Walden was born February 12, 1912, in Beaver, Arkansas, the son of James Solomon and Laura Belle (Young) Walden. He moved to Missouri in 1932. He worked for the Missouri Department of Conservation at the hatchery in Branson, retiring in 1977. He had also worked for several years for freight hauling companies. He attended the Mill Street Church of Christ in Cassville, the Church of Christ in Exeter, and the Church of Christ in Washburn. He married Mary Bernice Elgin on April 13, 1937, in Washburn, and she preceded him in death in December of 1975. He married Ines Grace Bishop McKinley on January 23, 1977, and she preceded him in death in December of 1989. Survivors include two sons, Larry Walden of Towanda, Kansas, and Gary Walden of Lee's Summit; two daughters, Rowena Hendrix of Butterfield and Linda Garrett of Jesup, Georgia; three brothers, Albert Walden of Washburn, Everett Walden of Bentonville, Arkansas, and Frank Walden of Wichita, Kansas; three sisters, Thelma Amos and Pat Phillips, both of Springfield, and Betty Wade of the state of California; 24 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 22 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Elvis Walden and J. S. Walden; and two sisters, Opal Burton and Norma Fogg. Graveside services were 11 a.m. today, October 22, at Washburn Prairie Cemetery with Wayne Deffenbaugh officiating under the direction of Williamson Funeral Home of Cassville. |
