Text Albert F. "Cotton" Walden, age 92, of Washburn, Missouri, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2007, in his home.

He was born April 1, 1914 in Beaver, Arkansas, the son of James and Laura (Young) Walden. On May 29, 1934 he was united in marriage to Eva E. Paul, who preceded him in death on November 12, 2002. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Bonnie Pendergraft; three brothers, Elvis, Abe and J.S.; three sisters, Opal, Thelma and Norma Lee; one grandson, Ricky Henry and one great-grandson, Joshua Pendergraft.

He is survived by one daughter, Flonnie Henry and her husband, Bill of Exeter, Missouri; two brothers, Everette Harry “Johnsee” Walden of Springdale, Arkansas and Franklin D. Walden of Wichita, Kansas; two sisters, Mary Phillips of Springfield, Missouri and Bettie Jo; six grandchildren, Dave Pendergraft and his wife, Jeannine, Debbie Henry, Steve Pendergraft and his wife, Joyce, Marty Henry and his wife, Kathy, Albert Pendergraft and his wife, Pam and Jamie Pendergraft; thirteen great grandchildren, William Pendergraft and his wife, Amanda, Cheryl Pendergraft, Kelli Stone and her husband, Rocky, Stephen Pendergraft, Hannah Henry, Keith Henry, Ryan Pendergraft, Seth Pendergraft, Kelsey Henry, Gage Henry, Stacie Pendergraft, Jessica Pendergraft and Jennifer Pendergraft and three great-great grandchildren, Roper Stone, Kenli Stone and Colton Pendergraft.

"Cotton" as most everyone knew him, received his education in Bush, Arkansas. He worked for Dunlap Produce for several years and was a carpenter in Kansas City. Cotton worked on the construction of Beaver Dam and moved to Washburn in 1953. He did volunteer work for the City, became Mayor and was responsible for getting the fire department started. In 2003 he was named “Washburn Man of the Year”. Cotton was a member of the Washburn Church of Christ.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 7, 2007, in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville, Missouri. Randy Harris will conduct the services. Burial will be in Washburn Prairie Cemetery, Washburn, Missouri.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.

Contributions may be made to St. John’s Hospice in memory of Cotton.
