Carl E. Volkl, 76, of Monett, died at 8:50 a.m. yesterday, August 2, at Lacoba Nursing Home in Monett. Mr. Volkl was born December 3, 1923, in St. Louis, the son of Jocob and Rose Hagedorn Volkl. He was a self-employed dozer operator and excavating contractor. He was a member of Ozarks Post 65 Pierce City American Legion and attended St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Monett. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He moved to the Monett-Pierce City area 73 years ago. Services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, August 5, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Monett with Father John Braun officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Pierce City under the direction of Lakin Funeral Home of Pierce City. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. tomorrow, August 4, at the funeral home with rosary to follow. Memorials may be made to Hospice or St. Lawrence Catholic Church. |
