Text | Joan Vanderpool, 75, of Butterfield, died February 17 at St. John's Regional Health Center in Springfield. Mrs. Vanderpool was born February 20, 1933, in St. Paul, Kansas, the daughter of Arthur and Nettie Dawson Pierce. She was a high school graduate in Girard, Kansas. She operated Nick's Caravan West and Rainbow Dinner House, and worked at Wal-Mart. She was a Baptist. She married Nick Joe Vanderpool on November 2, 1951, and he preceded her in death April 13, 1998. Survivors include two sons, Rick Vanderpool and Randy Vanderpool, both of Purdy; two daughters, Vicky Daniel of Purdy and Donna Vanderpool of Springfield; two brothers, George Pierce of Topeka, Kansas, and Bill Pierce of Denver, Colorado; one sister, Arlene Rooks of Pittsburg, Kansas; 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 21, at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville with Rev. Glenn Erwin and Rev. J. R. Day officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Butterfield. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow, February 20, at the funeral home. |
