Text | Etta Fletcher Van Zandt, 100, passed away June 11, 2013, at Cassville Mercy Hospital. She was born July 26, 1912, in Ash Township, Barry County, to Melvin and Etta (Hill) Fletcher. She was united in marriage to Oscar Allen Van Zandt June 21, 1929. She was a long-time member of the Maple Grove Church of Christ, a homemaker and boarded the school teachers of the Maple Grove Rural School.
Survivors include: her sons, Bill Van Zandt and his wife, Norma, and Carroll Van Zandt and his wife, Lola; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years; her parents; one sister, Nettie; and seven brothers, Edward, Donald, Percy, Simon, Virgil, Marvin and Howard. Funeral services were held Friday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Rick Hendrix and Ken West conducted the services. Burial was at Hickman Cemetery, Washburn. Contributions may be made to Hickman Cemetery in her memory. |
