Text | Edward Veltum was born in Yorkshire, England July 14, 1848 and died at his home two miles south of Rocky Comfort April 4, 1929. Age 80 years, 8 months and 21 days. He came to this country with his parents when 7 years old. He was a mechanic by trade, graduating in brick and stone work at Milwaukee, Wis. In 1866 at the age of 18 and received his diploma in plastering in Chicago in 1870. He was united in marriage to Margaret Elizabeth Payne Nov. 15, 1908. He was converted and joined the Protestant Methodist Church at Fairview, Mo., in 1912. He is survived by his widow and 7 stepchildren: Mrs. George R. Barnett, James R. Payne, W. H. Payne, Noah Payne and Mrs. James C. Long all of Rocky Comfort and T. P. and H. C. Payne of Joplin, Mo. Funeral services were conducted Friday April 5, at the Rocky Comfort Baptist Church, by Rev. Jimmie Gold, and burial made in the Rocky Comfort Cemetery under the direction of Pogue’s Undertaking Company. |
