Text | Tom Wilson Tucker of Sachse, Texas, died 24 August 2000, in Springfield, MO.
He was born in Exeter, 22 January 1913 to Elmer and Lena Tucker. Tom was a
graduate of Exeter High School, class of 1933. He married Dorothy Cameron of Butterfield in 1934. The first two years of the marriage, the couple moved 13 times looking for work. When WWII began, he worked all over the Ozark area, spending time in civil defense at Camp Crowder. From one job to the next he went, spending time also in Oak Ridge, TN., in the area the atomic bomb was made. Mr. Tucker retired after 34 years as an electrician and an Assistant Business Manager with International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. His wife, Dorothy, preceded him in death after 53 years of marriage. He is survived by two daughters, 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, two sisters and his second wife. He was an active life-long member of the Christian Church and was currently a member of the Central Christian Church of Richardson, Texas. A memorial service was held in Purdy, MO. on 25 August 2000 at First Baptist Church with Tony Martin presiding. Burial following on 28 August 2000, at Restland Memorial Chapel, Dallas, TX. |
