Text | Died, November 28 at his home seven miles northeast of Cassville, Rev. W. L. Truhitte. Rev. Truhitte was born in Morgan County, Tennessee January 15, 1823, departed this life November 28, 1908, age 85 years 20 months, 13 days. He was married to Martha Ann West of Putnam County in early life. To this union were born eight children, three of whom are still living: B. R. Truhitte of McDonald township, Mrs. R. L. Lewis of Mineral township, and Mrs. Lizzie Reynolds of Grove, Oklahoma. Bro. Truhitte served in the U. S. Army in the first regiment, Arkansas Cavalry under Captain Dugley for about three years. He professed faith in Christ in 1866 and united with the Baptist church at Salem, Arkansas, was ordained to the gospel ministry, and moved to Barry County in 1876. Bro. Truhitte was an earnest and faithful minister of the gospel, a devoted Christian, an affectionate husband, and a kind father. Funeral services were conducted at Fairview by Revs. Smallwood, Brattin, and Parmley, after which the body was laid to rest in the Sparks Cemetery. |
