"Bob" Townsend Robert W. "Bob" Townsend, 92, of Cassville, passed away February 15, 2010. He was born February 8, 1918, in Ohio, the son of Frank and Bessie (Whitcomb) Townsend. On February 19, 1943, he was united in marriage to his wife, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, of Cassville and Kansas City, Missouri; one sister, of Lansdale, Pennsylvania; three grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Bob graduated from high school in Spencerville, Ohio. He attended Arkansas State Teachers College and received his Masters Degree at the University of Arkansas and a Specialist Degree at Missouri University. During World War II he served our country in the United States Army. He taught at various schools in Missouri, later held positions as Junior High Principal, superintendent and administrator. He moved to Cassville 32 years ago to make his home. He was a member of Cassville United Methodist Church, where he and Mary were custodians several years. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, February 19, in Cassville United Methodist Church, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Exeter. The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until service time Friday in the church. Contributions to Methodist Church Food Pantry or Cassville School Backpack Program. |
