Text | An excellent wife, splendid mother and a good citizen has answered
the summons to go to a higher and better land, where all is love and delight,
where the priceless treasurers of eternal life is assured where all can
go, if they make the proper preparations while on this mundane sphere and
there meet their loved ones gone before.
Miss Catharine Lee was born Jan. 4th, 1858, in White County, Tenn., and came to Barry Co., Mo., in 1877, with her father, the late Jerry R. Lee. On October 15th, 1878, she and W.M. Thompson were married and three children were born to this marriage, who are: Mrs H.M. Gray of Monett, Jas. M. Thompson of Cassville, and Buford Thompson of Glendora, Cal. She professed faith in Christ early in life and at the time of her death, was a member of the Christian church in Monett. She died at the home of her son Jas. Thompson in Cassville, where she was visiting, Sept. 7, 1923, of pneumonia, aged 64 years, 8 months and 3 days. Her husband W.M. Thompson and daughter Mrs. H.M. gray of Monett, and Jas. Thompson of Cassville, and Buford Thompson of Glendora, Cal., seven grand-children, one great-grandchild, one sister Mrs. J.C. Lowe, Buford Lee of Dallas, Texas, Jerry A. Lee, McFarland, Cal., and Porter Lee of Oregon, were half brothers, and a host of relatives and friends to survive her. The remains were conveyed to the Mt. Pleasant church west of Butterfield, where Rev. Sherman Erickson conducted funeral services and a very large crowd of people assembled to pay tribute to this good woman. The remains were interred in the cemetery there. The following were pall bearers: J.R. Wallen, Wm. Houston, John Snider, Gene Frost, W.E. Hankins and O.P. Brite.
