Text | Ruby Beatrice Thomas, 89, of Joplin, formerly of Monett, died at 8:30 a.m.
yesterday, May 2, at the home of a daughter in Joplin. Mrs. Thomas was born January 11, 1912, in Monett, the daughter of Ollie Monroe and Emma Frances (Henderson) Ennes. She was a homemaker. She retired in 1968 from the telephone company where she was a switchboard operator and sales representatives. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Monett where she was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Esther Circle and United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Bi-County Republican Women, Queen Esther Chapter 202 Order of the Eastern Star in Monett. She was a registrar for Girls Scouts of America and was a founder of the Bethel Cemetery Perpetual Fund and was secretary, treasurer, and president of the cemetery board. She was a 1929 graduate of Monett High School. She married Joe David Thomas on December 15, 1934, in Neosho, and he preceded her in death August 23, 1974. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Loraine Black and Imogene McCullough; and one brother, Aubrey Ennes. Services will be 11 a.m. tomorrow, May 4, at Buchanan Chapel in Monett with Rev. Clif Crockett officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery near Monett with Rev. Ted Davis leading the prayer service, under the direction of Buchanan Funeral Home of Monett. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, May 3, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the cemetery. |
