Obit For Daniel Thomas
Headline OBITUARY
Text Daniel Thomas, one of the most highly respected citizens of Newton County, who lived three and one-half miles east of Stella, has passed away. He was born in Rush County, Indiana, Oct. 4, 1846 and died December 11, 1928 at the age of 82 years, 2 months and 6 days.

He joined the Federal army at the age of 18 and served until he was honorably discharged at the close of the Civil War. He then came to Newton County about 1870 and lived in the same neighborhood practically all the time since.

Mr. Thomas was married to Sarah M. McCallister June 23, 1872. To this union were born nine children, five boys and four girls, three of whom preceded him to the great beyond. Those living are: Edward Thomas of Batesville, Ark., Mrs. Nora Colwell, Sacramento, Cal., Arthur Thomas, Fairview, Mo., Mrs. Davis, Stark City, Mo., Mrs. Ethel Mitchell, Los Angles, Cal.

He leaves to mourn their great loss besides an aged widow and one stepson, the above children, 34 grand children. 20 great-grand children and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was laid to rest Dec. 12 in the Rocky Comfort Cemetery.
