Text | Bernard Ross, little 10-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Thomas southwest of Cassville, died about 10 o’clock Wednesday night Aug. 15th. His illness started from a fall about two weeks before. A form of meningitis is said to have developed resulting in his death. In the fall, his back struck a sharp rock. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Thomas home on Washburn prairie, conducted by Rev. Chas. Vanzandt. Burial was in the Maplewood cemetery at Exeter, with W. D. Koon undertakers in charge. Music for the funeral service was furnished by a quartet of Cassville singers: Mrs. Lanola Hodge, W. C. Blythe, Mrs. Lula Edmondson, and Miss Bernice Bayless. Pall bearers were: H. S. Brixey Jr., Ralph Halleneck Jr., Joy Beck, and Gerald Beck. Surviving of the immediate family are: the parents, and a little sister, Martha Evelyn, a grand-father and a number of uncles, aunts, and cousins. Bernard was a pupil of the Washburn school and would have been in the sixth grade the coming term. He was a very alert and bright little boy.
