Text | Nevada, MO, Oct. 5, Ex Representative
John T. Teel of Lawrence County died at the Nevada insane asylum this
morning. He was brought here from Mount Vernon more than a year ago. His reason became detrimental, a few week's before that time, while in St. Louis, and caused great confusion at the Laclede Hotel by the constant receipt of numerous packages of his wild purchases, and also by a member of personal altercation in which he engaged with parties about the hotel. When Teel was brought to the asylum, he was a large, robust man, but he gradually wasted away to skin and bones. He was a prominent lawyer and Democratic politician and was a member of the state legislature, which located the asylum at this place. He often referred to this act while an inmate of the institution. His wife proved him with a special attend and by special cure his life was prolonged. His body was shipped from here last night to Rushville, Ill, where his wife is making her home with relatives. |
