Text Carl L. Teel, 88, of Centre, Alabama, formerly of Monett, died at 9:45 a.m. April 26 at Baptist Medical Center Cherokee County in Centre, Alabama, following a long illness. Mr. Teel was born January 12, 1916, in Monett, the son of Leonard and Grace Goodnight Teel.

He was a retired postal worker and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Monett, the Postal Supervisor Organization, the Division of Family Services volunteer team, and the Monett Lions Club. He had served in the Missouri National Guard for 17 years.

He married Helene Colbert on July 12, 1941, in Monett, and she preceded him in death January 21, 1998.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, April 30, at Bennett-Wormington Chapel in Monett with Rev. Clif Crockett officiating. Burial will be in Monett IOOF Cemetery under the direction of Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home of Monett. Visitation will be from noon to service time Friday at the funeral home.

Music included taped selections of Amazing Grace and How Great Thou Art.

Casketbearers were Bo Sherrill, Don Schur, Ray Tinsley, Rick Wormington, Ron Smith, and Jerry Weber.

Burial was in Monett IOOF Cemetery under the direction of Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home of Monett.

Graveside rites were conducted by members of Tom Wolfe Memorial Post 4207 Monett Veterans of Foreign Wars. Flag folders were Wilmer Bray and Jim Larkin.
