Text | Again we are called upon to report the passing of one of the pioneer
citizens. R. D. Tarvin who died Thursday morning May 7, 1923 at six o’clock,
at the old home two miles north of Wheaton.
R. D. Tarvin was born February 12, 1855 in Vigo County, Indiana, moving with his parents to Springfield, Mo., about the year 1876 where they remained for two years before homesteading the farm near Munsey Chapel where he has since lived. He was married to Miss Nellie ____ in 1888. To this union were born six children, four of whom survive him. They are Ralph, Gerald, Leslie, and Mrs. Osie Gibson, all living near the old home place. He also leaves a brother, G. W. Tarvin of Savannah ____, one sister, Mrs. Ellen Compton of Kansas City, and a half-sister Mrs. Ann Frasier of Terre Haute, Indiana. Funeral services will be held at Munsey Chapel this afternoon Friday at 2:30. The Masonic Fraternity of which he was a member will have charge of the burial. The death certificate for Randle D. Tarvin reads that he was a son of George Wesley and Amelia (Bowles) Tarvin and that he waa born in Vigo Co., IN, Feb. 13, 1855, died May 17, 1923 in Barry Co., MO. Ralph D. Tarvin of Fairview, MO, gave the information. He died in Capps Creek Twp., which is misspelled as Carps Creek. |
