Obit For Penelope (Haddock) Swiger (Farrar)
Headline Mrs. Penelope Swiger Dies at Age of 80 Yrs.
Text : Special to the Cassville Democrat. Purdy, Mo., April 3,

Mrs. Penelope Swiger died Wednesday, at the home or her brother, Joseph Haddock of near here, at the age of 80 odd years. She had been afflicted with blindness and her mind had left her, and in a short time her sight returned, as well as her mind and she could see and knew everybody.

She was the widow off the late Rev. Jas. Swiger, a well known Baptist minister of Purdy during life. She was a sister of the late Boon Haddock, and Rance Haddock of near Eagle Rock and Lonz Haddock of near Monett. Rev. J. T. Brattin of Cassville conducted funeral services at the New Site Baptist Church Thursday, April 34, 1924, at 2:30 p.m. Interment was made in the cemetery there.

Research Note: Research Note: Penny was a daughter of Charles Haddock, Jr. and his first wife Sarah Collins.

Penelope Haddock married James Swiger on Oct. 17, 1869 in Barry Co., MO. Penny and James Swiger had no children.

She remarried after his death to W. T. Farrar, sometime between March and Apr. of 1918, in Barry County.
