| Text | EXETER, Mo. ---- Vernon H. Still, 83, of Exeter, died May 5, 2005. He was born April 21, 1922, in Barry County to Jim and Mable Cole Still. He lived most of his life in Barry County and was an Army veteran. He was a former deputy sheriff in Carroll County and later was elected Barry County sheriff, serving from 1973-1980. He was president of the Barry County Sheriff Posse, was a cattleman and member of Ridgeley Southern Baptist Church. He was a honorary member of the Wheaton Saddle Club. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Jeanie. Survivors include his wife, three children, nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; one sister and three brothers. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville, Mo. Burial will be in Rocky Comfort (MO) Cemetery. |
