Text | Robert C. Starr IV, 56, of Granby, formerly of Monett, died at 12:35 a.m. May 19 following an extended illness. Mr. Starr was born October 12, 1942 in Washington, D. C., the son of Robert C. and Barbara (Brixon) Starr. He was a project engineer with research and development for Leggett and Platt in Carthage. He was a Vietnam war veteran, serving in the Army, where he was decorated with the Bronze Star. He was a member of the Huguenot Society in South Carolina, the Freedom of the Road Riders legislative group, and the American Motorcycle Association. He was a 32nd degree Mason, and a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Neosho. He married Winetta Atwell on February 15, 1978 in Monett, and she survives. Additional survivors include one son, Robert C. Starr V of Scottsboro, Alabama; two daughters, Tamara Wolf of St. Louis and Rebecca Wolf of St. Roberts; one sister, Ruth Barclay of Las Cruces, New Mexico; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Edward Starr. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 21, at St. John's Episcopal Church in Neosho, with Father Bill Newby officiating. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. at the Monett IOOF Cemetery, under the direction of Lakin Funeral Home of Pierce City. The body has been cremated. Memorials may be made to the church. |
