| Text | Helen Jewell Oleta Starkey, 76, of Monett, died at 11:53 p.m. July 2 at St. John's Regional Health Center in Springfield following a brief illness. Mrs. Starkey was born May 15, 1924, in Washburn, the daughter of Albert Issiah and Della Mae (Summers) Mahan. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of the Nazarene and Senior Citizens Center in Monett. She married Benton Oggie Starkey on October 18, 1945, in Bentonville, Arkansas, and he preceded her in death January 25, 1995. Survivors include two sons, one sister, 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by one brother, Elvis Mahan. Services will be 10 a.m. tomorrow, July 6, at Bennett-Wormington Chapel in Monett with Rev. Chris Carver officiating. Burial will be in Monett IOOF Cemetery under the direction of Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home of Monett. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today, July 5, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. |
