Stanley Jessie N. Stanley, 105 of Gaston, died Wednesday, Dec 1, 2010 at an adult foster care home in Gaston. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, Dec 8, 2010 at 11 am at the Finley's Sunset Hills Memorial Park in Portland. Memorial services will be held Saturday, Dec 18 at 4 pm at the Gaston Wayside Chapel Seventh-Day Adventist Church. She was born Oct 7, 1905 in Purdee, Mo., the daughter of Hiram B. Giddings and Laura (Buchanan) Giddings. Upon her high-school graduation she attended Union College in Nebraska. She married Vern Earl Stanley Sept. 29, 1930 in Lincoln, Neb. They resided in Hazen, N.D. until 1938 when they moved to Portland. In 1969, they moved to Gaston where they lived for 23 years, until 1992 when they moved to Forest Grove. She later moved to Laurelwood. She had worked as a nursing assistant for many years at the Portland Adventist Hospital, helping care for babies until she retired. She was a lifelong member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Since moving to Gaston she was a member of the Gaston Wayside chapel Seventh- Day Adventist Church. Among her special interests she enjoyed oil painting, crocheting and gardening. Her husband of 65 years, Vern, preceded her in death on Dec 9th, 1995. She was also preceded in death by nine brother and sisters. Contributions may be made to the Frontier Mission in Troutdale. Fuiten, Rose & Hoyt Funeral Home in Forest Grove is in charge of the arrangements. |
