| Text | Roxie Mae Spencer, 79, of Purdy, died at 12:56 p.m. May 1 at Barry County Care Center in Cassville following a long illness. Mrs. Spencer was born December 27, 1924, in Stone County, the daughter of Amos and Elva Ellen (Rice) Hilton. She was a homemaker and a member of Chapel of Grace Church in Monett. She married Orville Spencer on September 27, 1969, in Miami, Oklahoma, and he preceded her in death in 1990. Survivors include three sons, of Purdy, and of Washburn; two daughters, of Washburn and of Richfield, Kansas; nine grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 5, at Bennett-Wormington Chapel in Monett with Rev. Jim Copley officiating. Burial will be in Monett IOOF Cemetery under the direction of Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home of Monett. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow, May 4, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Community Hospice or Barry County Care Center. |
