Text | Vineta M. Smith, 70, of Jenkins, died November 25 at the Barry County Care Center in Cassville, following a long illness. Mrs. Smith was born on April 10, 1937, in Ridgely, the daughter of Olen and Gladys (Slagle) Brattin. She was a homemaker. She had lived in the Cato community and was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses. She married Glenn Thomas on September 26, 1954 in Ridgeley. She married William Smith on October 9, 1976 in Cassville, and he preceded her in death on June 10, 1998. Survivors include three sons, of Torrance, California, of Moberly, and of Butterfield; three daughters, of Exeter, of Jenkins, and of Berryville, Arkansas; three step-sons, of Clifty, Arkansas, and of Cassville, Missouri; three step-daughters, of Clifty, Arkansas, and of Casper, Wyoming; five brothers, of Wheaton, of Lee's Summit, of Exeter, Missouri, and of Wheaton; three sisters, of Clifty, Arkansas, of Pleasant Hill, and of Wheaton; 34 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Howard Brattin; and one grandchild. Services will be held at 2 p.m. today, November 28, at White Funeral Home in Cassville with Bobby Harrison, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Concord Cemetery in Ridgeley. Memorials may be made to the ALS Association. |
