Mrs. Smith was born Nov. 16, 1932, in Cato, the daughter of the late Marlett and Mary (Black) Sturgell. Jo was a former meat wrapper and was self-employed for 30 years as an antiques entrepreneur. She graaduated in 1950 from Cassville High School. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Calvin J. Russell, Jr. Funeral mass was held Friday, Nov. 22, 2002 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Covina, Calif. Burial was in the Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Rowland Heights, Calif. Research note - Gwondolen Smith / Russell has a tombstone in the Oak Ridge Cemetery under the name "Gwondolen Russell" but she is buried at the Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Rowland Heights, CA under the name "Gwondolen Smith". |
