Text | Slaughter, James E., 92, formerly of Wichita, KS, died Sunday, November 11, 2007 at the Garden Terrace at Overland Park, KS. Family services will be private. Jim was born January 17, 1915, in Canton, MO and lived most of his life in Wichita before moving to Overland Park in 2002. He retired after 37 years with Cessna Aircraft, where he was the manager of the experimental division of the Wallace Plant. He was a pilot and member of Quiet Birdmen. He served on the board that established the Wichita Area Vo-Tech School. He was an active member of Wichita's Air Capital Gun Club and was an instructor for the Young Hunter's Safety Program. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy J. Slaughter, one brother, Joseph, two sisters, Edith and Lillian, and one grandson. He is survived by 2 daughters and their husbands, Marlyn and Duane Stemmons, Wichita, KS, Ilah and Daniel Stolz, Lenexa, KS, two brothers, Lawrence Slaughter of Apache Junction, AZ and John Slaughter of Altadena, CA, a sister, Bettie Ann Gabbert of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, 6 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. |
