Text | Elmer Skelton, 84, of Cassville, died yesterday, January 15, at Red Rose Inn in Cassville. Mr. Skelton was born September 1, 1916, in Eagle Rock, the son of George and Mary Ann (Curry) Skelton. He was a lifelong area resident, worked at the Civilian Conservation Corps camp, and was a self-employed carpenter for many years. He worked 21 years at Mano Boat Dock and was also a farmer. He was a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church. He married Matilda Ford on November 18, 1960, in Cassville. Additional survivors include one son, of Cassville; one daughter, of Cassville; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Brian Skelton; and 11 brothers and sisters. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, January 18, at Mineral Springs Cemetery under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home of Cassville. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow, January 17, at the funeral home. |
