Text | Melvin Lee Shrum, 71, Butterfield, died at 4:30 p.m. Monday after suffering an apparent heart attack at his work at the House Handle Factory, Cassville, according to Doyle E. Williamson, Barry County coroner. Mr. Shrum was born April 18, 1907, in Barry County. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church of Cassville. He was a lifetime area farmer. Surviving is his wife, Mrs. Roselene Shrum; two sons; two daughters, two step-daughters. Three brothers, Elzie Shrum, Star, Idaho, Orville Shrum, Downey, Calif., and Leon Shrum, Kuna, Idaho; two sisters, Mrs. Flora Davis, Boise, Idaho, and Mrs. Agnes Burns, Kansas City; 12 grandchildren and three step grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Axley's Culver Funeral Home at Cassville with the Rev. J. W. Whitlock and the Rev. Homer Burns officiating. Burial will be in King’s Cemetery, south of Washburn. |
