| Text | James Shoopman died June 11 at his home northwest of Butterfield of miners consumption, at the age of 49 years. The funeral services were held Wednesday June 12 at Mt. Pleasant church, conducted by Rev. Luther Carlin. The large crowd at the funeral was a strong testimonial of the high esteem in which he was held by the people of the community where he had lived for many years. He leaves a widow and two children, a son and a daughter; father, mother, two sisters and one brother. James Shoopman was one of the county's best men and his untimely death brought grief to the entire neighborhood about Butterfield. |
