Text | Betty Shockley, 74, of Wheaton, died yesterday, July 1, at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin. Mrs. Shockley was born February 14, 1928, in Garfield, Arkansas, the daughter of Henry C. and Ansy (Mahurin) Lombard. She was a homemaker and had worked as a waitress. She married Wilbert Leon Shockley on June 21, 1947, in Columbus, Kansas, and he preceded her in death. Survivors include two sons, Jim Shockley of Neosho and a son of Wheaton; one daughter, of Wheaton; two brothers, both of Wheaton; three sisters, of Wheaton, of LeGrande, Oregon, and of Neosho; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. tomorrow, July 3, at Maplewood Cemetery in Exeter with Rev. Richard Buck officiating under the direction of Wheaton Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, July 2, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
