Text | Hildreth Settlemire, 88, of Shell Knob, died at 3:59 p.m. October 23 at Cox Medical Center South following a brief illness. Mrs. Settlemire was born September 19, 1911, in Mineral Springs, the daughter of George and Minerva (Brock) England. She was a 1930 graduate of Cassville High School, and taught school in rural Barry County, Cassville, and Shell Knob for more than 50 years. She was a story hour volunteer at the Shell Knob Library for several years and a member of the Church of Christ in Shell Knob. She married Floyd Settlemire on June 13, 1957, in Las Vegas, Nevada, and he preceded her in death July 24, 1975. Survivors include two step-sons, of Bakersfield, California, and of Wasco, California; one step-daughter, of Simi Valley, California; six brothers, of Encino, California, of Carthage, both of Shell Knob, of Simi Valley, California, and of Cassville; two sisters, of Pittsburg, Kansas, and of Red Bluff, California; and seven step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Deering England, and an infant brother. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, October 28, at Williamson Chapel in Cassville with Larry Quinalty, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Mineral Springs Cemetery in Cassville under the direction of Williamson Funeral Home of Cassville. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow, October 27, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the church. |
