| Text | Abstract - John Henry Scroggs, 88, of Monett, died at 8:20 a.m. yesterday, July 19, at Cox Monett Hospital. Mr. Scroggs was born June 30, 1911, the son of Joseph P. and Etta (Brigman) Scroggs. He moved to Monett in 1987 from Cassville. He was a building contractor, retiring in 1992, and was active in the Boy Scouts and 4-H. He was a member of Countryside Christian Church in Monett. He married Alta May Swofford on June 30, 1931, in Berryville, Arkansas. Additional survivors include one son, of Monett; three grandchildren and one nephew. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 22, at Countryside Christian Church in Monett with Bruce Hayes and Rev. Gene Swofford officiating. Burial will be in Monett IOOF Cemetery under the direction of Buchanan Funeral Home of Monett. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. tomorrow, July 21, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the church. |
