Obit For Samuel Joshua Schell, Jr.

Text Samuel Joshua Schell, Jr. (81) of Pea Ridge, died Sunday, June 1, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rogers, Arkansas.

He was born April 7, 1922 at Jacket, Missouri, to Samuel Joshua Schell Sr. and Seanie Ellen Hall Schell.

He graduated from Washburn High School in Washburn, Missouri. He was a veteran of WW II serving in the U. S, Army as a Private, First Class. He received five Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart for the Rhineland, Ardennes, Central Europe, Normandy and Northern France campaigns. He distinguished himself by maintaining unbroken lines of communication to outpost positions while under fire from artillery, mortar and small arms.

He retired from Swift & Co. in Whittier, California, as a product manager. He moved to Pea Ridge, Arkansas, in 1992 to make his home.

He was a member of Westside Baptist Church in Pea Ridge and enjoyed fishing, cooking and gardening. He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Vera J. Schell in 1989; one daughter; one sister, Nola Hall; and one brother, Waldo Schell.

Survivors are his wife; two brothers; three sisters; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation is set for Wednesday, June 4, 5-7:00 p.m., at Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge. Local arrangements are by Sisco Funeral Home of Pea Ridge.

Burial will be at Rose Hill Memorial Park in Whittier, California.
