Text | Orville Chester "Speedy" Schell, 92, of Bellingham and Ferndale, died July 1, 2007, at Mount Baker Care Center in Bellingham. He was born May 11, 1915, in McDonald County, Mo., to Samuel Joshua an Seanie Ellen Hall Schell. He had been a resident of Ferndale and Bellingham since 1969. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He married Martha Margaret Wilkerson, on June 30, 1946. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 1st Armored Division, in the European Theater, including the invasion of North Africa and the Anzio beachhead. He retired in 1981 from Intalco Aluminum Co. in Ferndale, where he had worked since 1969. He enjoyed singing and playing guitar. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Deborah Kay, in 1976. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Martha Schell; one brother; two twin sisters; his three children; two grandsons; three great-grandchildren. Burial will follow in Greenacres Cemetery.
