Mrs. Mary L. Salyer, widow of the late R.G. Salyer, a resident of the county since 1888, passed peacefully to her last rest at the Salyer home in this city, at 4’olcok Tuesday afternoon, July 12, at the age of 84 years. She had been in declining health for more than a year, but took her bed only about a month ago. Funeral services are being held at 2’oclock this afternoon at the home, conducted by Rev. R.M. Patrick, pastor of the Christian church. Interment is to be made by the side of the body of her late husband in the Oak Hill cemetery, under the direction of the Horine-Culver funeral services.

Mary L. Young was born April 30, 1848, at Mt Sterling, Montgomery county, Ky. She was united in marriage to Rufus G. Salyer Nov. 30, 1881, at Mt Sterling. To them was born on child. Arthur G. Salyer, whom home is here. The family came from Kentucky to Barry county in 1888 and located at Golden. Mr. Salyer was in the mercantile, livestock and farming business there until 1907 when the family moved to Cassville where Mr. Salyer was engaged in the banking business. This has since been the family home. For years she had been a faithful member of the Christian church and interested in all the activities until age and poor health prevented. She was also a member for many years of Celestial Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by her son, A.G. Salyer, a step-daughter, Mrs. Mae Quinn, wife of Dr. G. D. Quinn of Springfield; two sisters, Mrs. Luttie Detamore and Mrs. Anna M. Collins, both of Shawnee, Okla., and one brother of C.A. Young of West Tulsa, Okla. In her passing Cassville has lost one of her beloved citizens.
